A size Large hoodie from Factory A can measure like a Medium from Factory B, even when both claim to use the same size chart. Understanding how to read, verify, and act on sizing information is the single most practical skill you can develop as a buyer.

Shoe Sizing: The Most Complex Category

Shoe sizing is complicated by multiple factors: factory mold variance, colorway-specific adjustments, and the fact that some batches run narrow while others run wide. The most reliable method is to compare insole length in centimeters. US and EU size labels are not standardized across factories, but centimeter measurements are objective.

Request that the agent lay the insole on a ruler and photograph it from directly above. Both left and right insoles should be photographed. A mismatch of more than 2mm between left and right is a red flag for poor factory QC. Also request a photo of the footbed without the insole inserted — this shows the actual interior space your foot will occupy.
