Pants/Shorts — ACBuy Spreadsheet Guide

Denim, cargo, sweatpants, and shorts. Understand inseam variance, wash accuracy, and hardware quality.

Bottoms are often overlooked, but they are where fit matters most. A half-inch inseam difference can turn a great pair of pants into an unwearable mistake. This guide covers how to measure, what to request in QC, and which styles are forgiving.

Risk Note

Denim washes vary by batch. The same listing can look different depending on production month.

Trending Directions in Pants/Shorts

Denim

Wash, distressing, and hardware are the main QC points. Selvedge is a bonus.

Cargo / Tactical

Pocket proportion matters. Budget batches often exaggerate pocket size.

Sweatpants / Joggers

Fabric weight and cuff recovery. Heavy French terry feels better and lasts longer.

Fit & Material Notes

Sizing

Always check inseam, thigh width, and knee opening. Waist alone is not enough for tapered fits.

Materials

Stretch denim reps often use less elastane than retail, making them stiffer and less forgiving.

QC Checklist

Inseam measurement consistency left vs right
Pocket bag depth and stitch color
Hardware engraving on buttons and rivets
Wash consistency across panels
Belt-loop spacing and stitching density

Buy Before You Buy

1

Request a flat-lay inseam measurement

Hanging measurements can stretch fabric and mislead. Flat-lay is more accurate.

2

Check pocket depth in QC

Shallow front pockets are a common budget flaw. Make sure your phone will actually fit.

3

Inspect belt-loop stitching

Weak belt loops are the first thing to fail on rep pants. Dense bartacks are a good sign.

Pants/Shorts FAQ

Do rep jeans use real selvedge?

Some higher-tier reps do, but most use standard overlock construction. Check the outseam in QC for a clean finished edge.

Why do cargo pockets look off sometimes?

Pocket proportion and flap shape are hard to replicate. Budget batches often make pockets too large or too flat.

Should I size up in sweatpants?

Most rep sweatpants are TTS to slightly oversized. If you want a stacked look, check the inseam measurement rather than sizing up blindly.
